About the Show
The 43rd annual Rock and Gem Show and Sale, Let's Rock Again!, took place October 5 and 6, 2024 at Kyle Centre in Port Moody.
The 2024 show built on the momentum of the record-breaking 2023 event, bringing back favourite exhibits and activities while continuing to reintroduce the worlds of lapidary and geology. Hands-on demonstrations and expert talks explored both the art and science behind the craft.
As the second instalment of the club's three post-COVID revival shows, Let's Rock Again! deliberately carried forward the broad and welcoming format established the previous year. The fluorescent mineral tent returned and became a foundational feature of the club's shows going forward, while expanded promotion helped bring the event to an even wider community audience.
Let's Rock Again! was the second of three post-COVID revival shows held from 2023 through 2025, carrying forward the broad introductory format established with Everything Rocks! in 2023.
The fluorescent mineral tent returned after its introduction at the 2023 show and became a foundational feature of the club's annual shows going forward.
The club expanded its promotion of the annual show in 2024, including advertising the event on a large electronic display board.
Featured Exhibits & Guests
- The revival continues. Building on the record-breaking return of the annual show in 2023, Let's Rock Again! continued the broad-format approach designed to introduce visitors to the many different sides of lapidary, rocks and minerals, geology and collecting.
- Fluorescent Minerals. The fluorescent mineral tent returned for a second year. Introduced at the 2023 show, the darkened walk-in exhibit allowed visitors to experience the dramatic colours produced by minerals under ultraviolet light. It became a foundational feature of the club's shows going forward.
- Expanding the show's reach. Promotion for the 2024 show included a large electronic display board advertising the event to the wider community, complementing the club's traditional posters and other promotional efforts.
