The Tri-Cities Lapidary Society workshop is a members-only facility. Members must meet the Society's membership, waiver and safety requirements before participating in a workshop session.
Lapidary work involves powered machinery, rotating wheels, saws, water, stone fragments and other hazards that require instruction, attention and responsible use. Our workshop rules, waivers and supervision requirements help ensure that members understand the nature of these activities and use the equipment responsibly.
Workshop Access Requirements
The workshop is not open for public drop-in use. Before participating in a workshop session, you must first formally join the Tri-Cities Lapidary Society and be a member in good standing, with your membership fees paid in full.
- Be a current Tri-Cities Lapidary Society member in good standing, with membership fees paid in full.
- Have a current Adult Workshop Waiver or Under 19 Risk Acknowledgement on file, as applicable.
- Pay the $5.00 workshop access fee for each workshop session attended.
- Follow all workshop rules, safety requirements and directions given by the workshop supervisor.
Annual Waiver Requirement
Workshop waivers and risk acknowledgements are completed once each year when a new membership term begins. A current form must be on file before a member may use the lapidary workshop.
Adult Workshop Waiver
Members who are 19 years of age or older must complete the Society's Adult Workshop Waiver before using workshop equipment.
The waiver applies to participation in lapidary activities and the use of Society equipment during the current membership year.
Participants Under 19
Participants under 19 years of age must have a completed Risk Acknowledgement signed by a parent or adult sponsoring member before taking part in workshop activities.
Children aged 10 years and older may use the lapidary workshop provided they are under the direct supervision of a parent or adult sponsoring member. The supervising adult is responsible for remaining with and actively supervising the junior participant while equipment is being used.
Workshop Supervisor Authority
Membership in good standing, completion of the appropriate waiver or risk acknowledgement, and payment of the workshop access fee make a member eligible to participate in a workshop session, but do not create an automatic right to use any particular piece of equipment.
Workshop supervisors may require additional instruction or supervision before permitting a participant to use particular equipment. Members must follow all workshop safety requirements and directions provided by the workshop supervisor.
These decisions are made in the interest of the safety of the participant and everyone else in the workshop.
If you are unsure which form applies to you or your family, please contact us before attending a workshop session.
